Before you begin, we recommend watching this under 3-minute install video here.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Identify the Top Panel
Locate the top panel and make this is the panel with:
No arc (curve) on either end
If it's not please locate in the stack.

👉 The DumpsterGard lid system is designed to fit seamlessly and help prevent water from entering between panels. To ensure proper fit and performance, this panel should be installed first.
Note: We do our best to place this panel on top of the stack. If it is not on top, it will be located within the panels—set it aside before beginning.
2. Stage the Panels
Place all panels at one end of the dumpster.
The side with the 12” gap between ridges should face away from the dumpster (watch video)
Keep panels organized for smooth installation
3. Place the First Panel
Place the top panel across the dumpster opening.
Panels should extend fully to the edges of the dumpster
The panel should slightly overhang and fit over the sides
👉 This is important to:
Prevent water from entering
Ensure proper fit when tightening
4. Place Remaining Panels
Install the remaining 3 panels one at a time.
Each panel overlaps into the 12” gap of the previous panel
Align panels so they sit flat and form a continuous lid
👉 When installed correctly, the system acts as a secure lid covering the entire dumpster opening
5. Secure with Straps
Place straps over the panels and tighten.
Hook to any available point on the dumpster
If needed, hook underneath the dumpster
Tighten until panels are firmly secured
👉 Proper tension helps the lid system:
Stay in place during wind
Maintain coverage during rain
6. Final Check
Walk around the dumpster and confirm:
Panels extend to the edges and sit over the sides
Panels are aligned and overlapping correctly
Straps are tight and secure
No large gaps for rain or debris
✅ You’re Ready to Go
Your dumpster is now covered with a secure lid system designed to help keep rain out and waste contained.
🔄 Accessing the Dumpster
Need access?
👉 Stack panels to one side for partial opening
👉 Keep remaining panels secured to prevent movement
📦 Removing the Cover
Remove panels in reverse order
Stack panels neatly for storage
💡 Pro Tips
Install before rain to prevent water buildup
Ensure panels extend fully to the edges for best performance
Recheck straps after high winds or heavy use
🧠 Why This Matters
Uncovered dumpsters can lead to:
Water buildup and added weight
Stormwater runoff concerns
Job site mess and material loss
DumpsterGard’s lid system helps prevent rain from entering the dumpster while keeping debris contained, providing a simple, effective solution for cleaner, more controlled job sites.
